Have you tried creating sections in Microsoft Teams’ Class Notebook which are only editable by some students?
Austen Liaude In Teams you can set permissions of the Class Notebook, so sections are only editable by some students. You might use this feature to create sections for groupwork, so each group have their own section in the notebook.
Please note this feature only allows you to edit sections within the Collaboration Space tab in the notebook you are not able to edit permissions of other tabs.
