If you need to give students access to a copyright work (like a book extract or journal paper) it can be tempting to just upload a copy that you have downloaded or scanned to Brightspace. Unfortunately, this often breaches copyright and accessibility legislation.

The correct way to share these documents is to firstly use Library Search to check that a digital copy is not already available.
If it is available on Library Search, add it to your Leganto Reading List in the usual way.
If it is not already on Library Search, you can still add the item to Leganto, and the Library team will endeavour to source a copyright cleared version which complies with accessibility requirements. This can take a little time, so please complete your Reading List as early as possible.
Once the item is on your Reading List, you can create a link to it from the relevant Brightspace content item to make it easy for students to find and access.
If you need help with this, please contact your Subject Librarian via library@hud.ac.uk
